Bambi Woods, born on July 12, 1955, is an American former pornographic actress and exotic dancer, best known for her role in the 1978 film Debbie Does Dallas. Her rapid rise to fame during the Golden Age of Porn and subsequent disappearance have fascinated industry writers and sparked curiosity about her fate, leading to myths about her meeting a grim end after her peak years.

Woods gained notoriety for her debut as "Debbie" in Debbie Does Dallas, where she received top billing and was prominently featured in advertisements as a "former Dallas Cowgirl." Despite trying out for the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, she never made the squad. In the film's trailer, she clarified that none of her real experiences were used in the fictional storyline, although she speculated they could have been. She performed unsimulated sexual acts with co-stars like Robert Kerman, who were part of the small circle of veteran performers in the industry at the time.

Woods' entry into adult films was arranged by a female friend to whom she owed money. Jim Clark, the producer/director of Debbie Does Dallas, named her "Bambi Woods," drawing a whimsical connection to the Disney character. Her on-screen demeanor, likened to a deer caught in headlights, complemented her pseudonym.

Her career unfolded during a turbulent period in the adult film industry, characterized by a lack of regulations and the looming threat of extortion by organized crime. Despite the significant profits generated, female performers like Woods earned modest fees. Initially joining the industry to settle a debt, Woods found herself performing as an exotic dancer after squandering her earnings. An interviewer once remarked that the friend who facilitated Woods' career had "a heart of gold."

Debbie Does Dallas became a major success, thrusting Woods into the limelight. She frequented New York City clubs like Studio 54 and Plato's Retreat, mingling with celebrities. However, the unexpected publicity distressed her, especially when her family discovered her involvement in pornography. Disillusioned with her fame as a porn star and unsettled by impending legal issues, she withdrew from the industry.

By the mid-1980s, Woods had vanished from public view, with no new films credited to her after 1981. Reports of her disappearance surfaced in 1986, prompting searches and speculation about her fate. A 2005 article in The Age claimed she had died of a drug overdose in 1986. However, a Channel 4 documentary, Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered, revealed that her real name, kept confidential, had been traced to her family. According to a private investigator, Woods was living a quiet life in the Des Moines, Iowa area, preferring to remain disconnected from her past career.
