Edson da Conceicao (Rotterdam, 1987) is a filmmaker, director and screenwriter. In 2019, he graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy with two short films: PORFOTTO, which earned him a place among the finalists at the Student Academy Awards, and MANIA, which won multiple international awards, including Best Film of the Month at the European Cinematography Awards.
His work is defined by layered characters, moral ambiguity and socially relevant stories. As a filmmaker, he is drawn to stories that challenge and unsettle, not for the sake of provocation, but to get closer to the truth. His deep connection to Rotterdam and his ability to tell stories from within give his work a raw and deeply human quality, where tension and emotion go hand in hand.
