Ex Libris wanted to start a collective porn project with her friends fresh out of college, but it wasn’t until she stepped into the doors of Kink as an editor that she knew she wanted to direct porn commercially. With eight years under her belt honing her skills as a cinematographer at Kink and various other projects, she stepped up to the plate as the director of The Upper Floor and then soon after, Families Tied.

‘I am endlessly fascinated with sexual desire, BDSM, and fucking as sites where larger power structures are reproduced and reckoned with on an individual and social level. I wrote a lot about queer porn and Lacanian psychoanalysis in my earlier life as a video artist and studied with Barbara DeGenevieve. The same way a lot of media critic majors become great advertisers and marketers, it turns out I am as good at constructing porn as I am deconstructing it. It’s nice to be in an industry where most people are fairly well compensated, work boundaries are explicitly discussed, and women are centered in much of the decision making.””

It’s like hosting the world’s weirdest dinner party everyday. You have to suss out what mood everyone is in, what their relationships to each other are, likes and dislikes, and then come up with scenarios and activities that will maximize chemistry, pleasure, and fun for all parties while still making the product your members want.’

The Upper Floor is scripted illicit threeway affairs with opulent settings; ‘For the Upper Floor, there is no other site where you get live BDSM swinger parties, bondage, corporal, D/s, hardcore threesomes, and story lines all in one go. It’s super high production, hot BDSM sex, and could only be made at Kink.com.’
