Caroline Renard

Caroline Renard is a first-generation Haitian-American screenwriter and director from Miami, Florida, who grew up as the youngest of five in a lively Caribbean family. Before landing in Los Angeles, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in African American Studies and Sociology from Florida State University. Her degree of study in Sociology helps her to examine people and the society that we live in, which is reflected throughout her art.

She was most recently a Story Editor for SECRETS OF SULPHUR SPRINGS on Disney+. When not writing, Caroline has transitioned into directing. Her directorial debut short film UNBRAIDED had its World Premiere at the renowned Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It was awarded the Best Comedic Short Film at the 2024 Micheaux Film Festival. The film has also been featured at the Nevada City Film Festival, Newark Black Film Festival, Essence Film Festival, and Black Girls Rock Film Festival. She was most recently chosen to be part of Black Film Space 2024 Mentee Cohort for directing. She is also currently in development for her feature directorial debut. She has also co-hosted a podcast, "No Black Girls Were Harmed in the Making of this..." where the two hosts examine Hollywood’s continued lack of Black Girl representation on screen, something she strives to change.
